Mural Art and Concept

10-7-24

When I found this place and began working here in 2022, I quickly found out that my neighbor, Baxter Brazan, was my neighbor on both sides of the shop! Knowing he runs The Coffee Fixx, I can’t imagine that someone running a diner/coffee place would have any free time for another business but lo and behold! He is starting a bar/grill right next to us on the other side! He is teaming up with Buddy Miller to take on this new endeavor called “ The Fillin’ Station.” As he prepares his new location inside and out, he has come over and brainstormed some ideas with us about what we could all do as far as a mural to attract people to our tiny piece of 6th Street!

At first I thought maybe we should do something to highlight the fact that the building is a tattoo shop. I blurted out the first thing I thought would be cool to paint. “What about a cowboy riding a bull but the bull is an old coil tattoo machine?”

Concept Art for our new mural

Jesus gives it a second thought… We keep thinking of concepts that could match the overall purpose of the wall and its location.

As work progresses with my neighbor’s business, we see the wall painted white! This got us really going when it came to finalizing the concept! The feeling of seeing that blank wall when I pulled up to the tattoo shop was great. I knew it meant that we were going to start a new chapter in the shop and take on a big project together! Jesus got the blank wall photographed, got dimensions, and ended up creating something really spectacular after seeing where the stage is going to be for the performers of this venue. It’s sure to be a head turner! I realize now it’s better to make art geared toward the people that will be a part of it instead of attracting clients.

How exciting it will be to get this project underway! I’ll be posting here as we progress so you can follow our latest journey here at Inkologist Tattoos!

We've got out paints and paint guns ready to get started! This is going to be a very beautiful piece of work that I cannot wait to see it completed.
